Curriculum

St Joseph's School places importance on preparing all students to develop the understandings and skills for success both at school and in their future lives.

Authentic learning opportunities are centred on enduring and deep level understanding of key concepts or ideas that are meaningful and connected to lives of our students.

Higher order thinking skills that include problem solving and inquiry learning are central to providing opportunities for students to become self directed, independent, and motivated learners.

Through their learning, students are able to reflect on their current and new knowledge using inquiry and problem solving.

Engaging the learner in today's world is complex and challenging and requires strong links to their world, and opportunities to select a learning path and present their findings or solutions in a variety of ways. The development of knowledge (understanding) and skills are key factors in our teaching and learning programmes.

In maintaining learning opportunities that are connected and motivating, we recognise the importance of learning being seamless and integrated.
