WORKING BEE
Hammers, drills, action!

Our first big thank you goes to Mr Kelly & Mrs Kelly for running & organising a productive working bee on Saturday!

Our second big thank you goes out to all the families (Mrs Templeton, Street family, Mr Gardner, Mrs James, Mrs Pietersen, Mr Foster, Mrs Doherty and Jamie, Mr Kalacanovic, Mr Foster I hope we haven’t missed anyone) who took time out of their Saturday to help us transform our school hall into a performance space. The tasks at the working bee ranged from nailing to drilling to painting to taping to cleaning and many other jobs! Our stage and hall could not have been completed without your support and we really appreciate it.

Thank you also to Miss Luxford & Miss Woodhead for coming along to help out and to Mrs Bon for bringing some morning tea.

We can’t wait for you all to see our show “Go Noah!”

Still Unbeaten ……

St Joseph’s year 5/6 wins football tournament again!

Words from the coach:

“The team played fantastically well, I didn’t count the goals we scored. I just know there were a lot! I was especially proud of the encouragement and support they gave one another. The team showed the respect to all other teams they played and there was concern for individuals for injury stoppages.

As one school did not turn up, there was a mixture of players put into a 4th team from all schools, with two different players from ours having a go each game, which they did with no grumbles and I could see each player trying just as hard for that team as they would have for the school, which I think is fantastic!

Football Players

Our year 3/4 team came down to a nail biting penalty shoot-out which they lost by 1.  Worthy runners up!”

Congratulations to Benji McCarthy who was Player of the Tournament!

FOOTBALL

As we walked onto the football field we were determined to win the cup again.  All the teams looked hard but we knew Takapuna would be our toughest competition. After the team picture was taken, we walked to the club rooms. The team talk encouraged us to think about how we want to keep position and use the wings to cross the ball into the box.

First up was Takapuna! It was a tough match it ended up being 5-3 which was exciting for us. Our next game was the All Stars, a mixed team from 3 other schools which we beat convincingly on 16-2. Hauraki, our next challenge, were dominated by us and the score ended in 19-0.

As we went into the final match we were confident we could win as we had beaten this team before. The whistle blew for the first half and the game was underway. A strong attacking half ended with a result of 4-0.

Our hopes were high and determination paid off as we lifted the cup once again.

Special thanks have to go to our coach Mr Kelly, who inspires us to give of our best at each game.

Our player of the tournament is definitely Benji McCarthy because of his soccer skills and enthusiasm for this game.
