PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Dear Parents

Welcome to Term 4. It was wonderful to welcome all the children back to school this morning.

The Principal’s Message will cover the following topics:

WELCOME

Welcome to Amos, Elle, Jonathan and Vince who are having their first day at St. Joseph’s today. We know they will have a wonderful time at our school.

SCHOOL PRAYERS

Our first school prayers for the term will be this Friday, 16th October beginning at 9am. All parents are welcome to join the students for school prayers each Friday.

SCHOOL MASS

There will be one school Mass this term on Friday, 11th December at 11am in St Joseph’s Church. This is the final Mass for the year at which we celebrate our year of learning and farewell our Year 6 students. All parents are invited to this Mass. 

TEAM LITURGIES

This term, each team will be organising a liturgy. Parents will be informed of the date and time of the liturgy and are welcome to attend.

SACRAMENTAL PROGRAMME

The Parish Sacramental Programme for Confirmation and First Holy Communion re-starts this Wednesday at 6:30pm for Year 4 students here at school. If you have any questions, contact Edwin at the Parish Office. The dates for the programme and the two celebrations are on the school calendar.

CROSS COUNTRY/FUN RUN

We will be having our 2020 Cross Country/Fun Run on the morning of Monday 19th October. We are introducing a new format for this event. Students will be able to elect to enter either the competitive run or the fun run. All students are welcome to come dressed in costumes or school PE gear. Further information will be posted on the website tomorrow.

CLUSTER SPEECH COMPETITION

Over Term 3, some of the Kakariki students prepared and delivered speeches as part of their programme of learning. In the final week of the term, each home groups’ represententives presented their speeches to the entire team. Congratulations to the following students who will be representing our school at the upcoming Cluster Speech Competition:

  • Speech – Meera
  • Spoken Word – Natalia
  • Rap – Charlie
  • Flash Talk – Carter

SHORE-TO-SHORE

This wonderful family event is being held on November 8th this year. Register your family  on the website, www.shoretoshore.co.nz. Click on our school name, “St Joseph’s School” and you will be supporting our students, as we will receive sports equipment thanks to your registration. We look forward to seeing a large number of our families at this community event.

ELECTION DAY

There will be a polling booth in our school hall on Election Day, Saturday 17th October.
