PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Kia ora Whanau & Parents…

Over the weekend, a number of our students received the Sacrament of First Holy Communion. It was wonderful to see the children beautifully dressed, with their families attending Mass, at which the youngsters received the Eucharist.

Congratulations to all the children on receiving this Sacrament with the Sacrament of Confirmation. They were confirmed by Bishop Michael on Thursday evening.

This Sacrament, along with Baptism and Eucharist, are the Sacraments of initiation into our Catholic faith. We offer our best wishes to those young people who were blessed with these Sacraments as part of their faith journey.

On Sunday, the church celebrated the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Bishops of New Zealand celebrated Mass in Wellington to renew the dedication of NZ to the patronage of Mary of the Assumption. In 1838, Bishop Pompallier celebrated his first Mass at Totara Point, Hokianga, at which he dedicated New Zealand to Mary of the Assumption.

The Principal’s Message will cover the following topics:

  • Community Involvement Survey
  • Student Leaders 2021
  • Photo Request for Library Display
  • Kiwi Team’s Trip to Auckland Museum

PHOTO REQUEST FOR LIBRARY DISPLAY

Reading is your window to the world so let reading take you away, and escape with a good book.

Please TAKE A PHOTO of your child enjoying an “escape with a good book” in their favourite place to read, outside of school (for instance in your backyard, at the beach, with younger siblings, etc.)

These photos will be displayed in our library.

Please email a photo in JPEG format to our librarian, Megan Street:

 megans@sj.school.nz

It would be wonderful to see all our students’ love of reading on display!
