PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Dear Parents

Welcome to a greater level of freedom for us here in Auckland. It will be different being able to access hospitality and entertainment businesses, having been away from them for so long.

As was mentioned in the last Principal Message, there are no changes to what schools are doing in the Covid Protection Framework (Traffic Light System), through to the end of the school year. After the 1 January 2022 schools will be working according to the MOE and MOH guidelines that will reflect the three colours of the Covid Protection Framework. Just before we begin next year, schools will know what colour Auckland is working at and will send out the way the school will be working in relation to the MOE and MOH guidelines.

Thank you for the support parents are showing at the Part Time / Bubble School drop off and pick up system. It is lovely to have the children back at school and they and the staff, are doing a wonderful job at ensuring groups stay separate.

We are mindful of schools in Auckland that have been impacted by Covid, and students in these schools that have had to go into 10 days of self isolation. Please continue to ensure that if your child or a family member is not well, that the Health Line is contacted and informed that children in the family are attending a primary school. The Healthline (0800 611 116) will then share what the family is to do. The school would  appreciate hearing what advice was given  prior to the children returning to school. These measures will help us all ensure our Christmas holiday plans are not interrupted by a need to self isolate.

Take care and stay safe.

The MOE have confirmed that there will be no after school care services for the remainder of 2021. Our sKids service will not open until 2022, when the MOE permits them to open. At the beginning of the 2022 school year we hope to be able to let you know when our sKids service will be re-opening.

Thank you to Elena, Ian and their team for the wonderful care and support they show our students and their families who use their service.

PLEASE RETURN

If you have any of the following at home, please could you return them to school to the school office:

  • Library books
  • Sports uniforms
  • School readers

Thank you to those who have returned them.

SECOND HAND SCHOOL UNIFORMS

If you have any current school uniforms you no longer require, you’re most welcome to donate them to the school. Please leave them in the basket outside the school office.

Thank you!

SUPPORT

At this time of year there are a number of families in our parish community in need. Here are a couple of ways you can offer them support.

Parish St Vincent de Paul Cans for Christmas

We invite all families to bring a can for our ‘Cans for Christmas’ collection. These cans go to our Parish St Vincent de Paul Group who distribute to families in need. Please place the cans in the basket outside the office.

Parish Angel Tree

Each year our Community of Faith is blessed to support the Monte Cecilia Housing Trust at Christmas. This year we would like to encourage our students to take a little time to purchase a small gift to go towards our Christmas giving.

Here are some great ideas.

  • Art supplies
  • Small cars
  • Small dolls
  • Games
  • Outdoor sports games.

Please do not wrap the gift. Please place it in the basket outside the office.

We truly appreciate the generousity of our students and parents.
