Principal’s Message – 02 December, 2022

ST JOSEPH’S CATHOLIC
SCHOOL
TAKAPUNA

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Kia Ora Whanau,

On Thursday evening this week, eighty one of our young parishioners received the Sacrament of Confirmation. The students were all dressed in the ‘Sunday Best’ and together, with the support of their sponsors and whanau, were blessed with the gift of the Holy Spirit. Bishop Steve, Monsignor David and Father Nataniel laid hands on the candidates. This was followed by Bishop Steve anointing each child with the oil of chrism as he said “be sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit” and offering them the Peace of Christ, which concluded the rite. One of his messages to the children was “always serve others as if you were Jesus”.

The night before, the children and their whanau had the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This weekend they will be receiving the Sacrament of First Eucharist. This will mean they have been fully welcomed into the Catholic church. Congratulations to them all on these very special celebrations.

Today the Kiwi and Kea teams put on the Christmas show for their whanau. They were AWESOME. Congratulations to all the students for their beautiful singing and for their amazing performance. A big thank you to their teachers and LSA’s for the way they supported and encouraged their students. A very special way for the teams to bring their 2022 year to an end.

Only two weeks of the 2022 school year to go. We look forward to seeing all the school whanau at our end of year liturgy, Wednesday 14 December. We will be celebrating the 2022 school year and farewelling our Year 6 students. The liturgy is being held at Rosmini College auditorium beginning at 11 am. This will be followed by a whanau picnic on the bottom field. You are welcome to bring a picnic. Alternatively you can purchase your whanau lunch from the food trucks on the courts.

Have a lovely weekend.

Take care

Ka manaakitia e te Atua

ST JOSEPH’S GIVING

St Joseph’s Christmas Giving  2022

Thank you to all the families who have supported these baskets so far – it has been awesome.

Each year our Community of Faith is blessed to support the Monte Cecilia Housing Trust at Christmas.  This year we would like to encourage our students to take a little time to purchase a small gift to go towards our Christmas giving.

Here are some great ideas.

  • Art supplies
  • Small cars
  • Small dolls
  • Games
  • Outdoor sports games.

Please no clothing or second hand goods.

There are four baskets in the school office for donations to be dropped into Boys and Girls Years 0 – 10, Teenagers, Mums and Dad’s. These are filler items to accompany the gifts that the parish puts together.

Thank you for your generosity.

LIBRARY BOOKS DUE BACK PLEASE

Just another reminder that the library is now closed for stock take. Please check to see if you have any school library books or school resources at home please. Thank you!

THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING OUT SPORTS TEAMS!

Thank you to everyone that has supported our St Joseph’s Sports Teams this year, we really appreciate it.

We are now calling for all school sports uniforms to please be returned to the box outside the office.

REMINDER TO CANCEL AUTOMATIC PAYMENTS

Just a reminder…

If your child’s school fees are fully paid, thank you so much!!!

Can you please ensure your automatic bank payment (or wage deduction) is cancelled?

The school’s received quite a number of over-payments during these last few weeks of Term 4.

Unfortunately we cannot “hold” these payments, to put towards 2023 school fees.

Many thanks if you can monitor your child’s fees statement and when they are fully paid, cancel the payments.

Much appreciated  🙂

CHANGE OF OWNERSHIP FOR SKIDS

Dear Parents & Caregivers,

We wish to advise you that we have sold the sKids St Joseph’s franchise to Jeff and Tess Tecson, owners of sKids Campbells Bay. They will be taking over from the beginning of Term 1, 2023.

Operations will continue under us as normal for the remainder of Term 4.

Jeff and Tess are the new owners and Franchisees, they know St Joseph’s well, since their own child went to school here and graduated in 2018. He is now into year 12 at Rosmini.

As part of this transition, Jeff and Tess will be making themselves available on Tuesday, December 6th during After School to meet and greet with parents. This will be an opportunity for you to put a face to the name of whom your immediate contacts will be going forward. Also an opportunity to address any questions you  might have.

Thank you,

sKids St Joseph’s Primary
