PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

(Please note: There appears to have been a technical glitch with our website, as the 6pm “Principal’s Message” that should’ve gone out yesterday apparently didn’t reach everyone. Apologies if you didn’t receive the email alert on Friday; or if you’re receiving a second alert today. Thank you!)

Dear Parents

We have had a great week with all the children back at school. It is lovely to see the children catching up with each other after the Christmas break.

This weekend and early into next week, we have been told that we are to experience Cyclone Gabrielle. We are being asked to prepare for possible flooding and power outages, along with strong winds. All schools in Auckland will be directed by the Ministry of Education as to whether or not they need to close. As we experienced last week, schools will be notified by the Ministry of Education; and in turn schools will notify their families. Please monitor your emails.

If you were unable to meet your child’s teacher last week, please feel free to catch up with them either before or after school for five minutes. It is great for teachers to be able to meet the parents of their students. This is the foundation for teachers and parents together supporting the child’s learning through the year.

The school website is the main source of information for our school. Each week, on a Friday, there will be a Principal Message. You will receive an email at 6pm on a Friday night notifying you that it has been posted on the school website. There will occasionally be school notices for all parents posted on the website. Again you will receive a notification at 6pm. Home Groups and Teams will send out communications that are specific to them via our student management system Etap. They come directly to the email address we have on the system for parents.

We appreciate hearing compliments and concerns directly. Your child’s teacher is in the best position to discuss any concerns you may have as they are with your children daily. If you have any school wide, concerns please feel free to get in touch with me.

I wish you all a safe weekend.

OUTREACH TO OUR SCHOOL COMMUNITY:

MUFTI DAY

Over the last couple of weeks we have experienced some significant weather and seen on the news the major earthquake in Turkey and Syria.

On Friday, 24th February, we will be having a Mufti Day to raise funds for both these causes.

Catholic Care is raising donations for People of Auckland impacted by the floods and Caritas NZ is organising funds from NZ to support the people of Turkey and Syria.

We would appreciate your generous support of both these organisations.
