St Joe’s Orcas – Year 3
We played in the finals and we won a gold medal. It was a close game – the score was 5-4. We play our games on Sunday afternoons at AUT Millennium pools. You have to be confident in the water and know how to swim. You are not allowed to wear goggles. You can catch the ball with two hands and if you are aiming for the goal, you can only throw the ball with one hand. It was a fun season and we are excited to play again next term.

St Joe’s Dolphin’s – Year 4
Our Splash Polo Team is called the St Joe’s Dolphins. Each week we play against teams from different schools. Some of the teams were quite hard and some were easy. When we first get in, the water is cold but after we warm up, we feel excited to be playing and learning new skills. Our games are on Sundays and our training sessions are every second Saturday. We came 4th in our grade this season. Bring on Term 3!

St Joe’s Marlin’s – Year 5
We love playing Splash Polo because it teaches us how to become faster at swimming and stronger with the ball. There is a lot of teamwork involved like passing the ball, goal assists and catching. The aim is to get the ball into the goal. The teams that we played against were really hard – the scores were really even. We got third in our grade and got a bronze medal. Our whole team felt really happy because it was the first time we had made it into the top three!

St Joe’s Sharks – Year 6
Our team is called the St Joe’s Sharks. Our team is made up of all Year 6 players, boys and girls. Most of us have played together for a while. I like playing because it’s fun, I get to play with my friends and lots of people come to watch us. You need to be a strong swimmer so you can focus on getting the ball down the pool and into your team’s goal.

St Joe’s Phoenix – Year 5/6 Girls
This year, we played in an all girls grade, which was the first time that we had done this. It was a great experience because we all got to play with our friends and we all worked well as a team. It was good to play against other girls. Each week, we tried our best and won a lot of our games. There was one school that was really good and hard to beat. We came second overall in our grade and got silver medals. We felt pretty good about this achievement, as we had some of our star players out for the finals.
