PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Dear Lord

We pray for all those in our school and parish community,
who have been impacted by cancer.
We pray for our whanau and friends who are currently being treated for the illness
in all its various forms.
We know you will be their Lord to support them on their journey.
We give thanks Lord
For the doctors, nurses and medical professionals who work tirelessly
to support their patients,
For their dedication to their profession and for their wisdom and knowledge.
We bless all those who are involved in the Cancer Society.
For the wonderful way in which they support all those that they meet, and their whanau
with such care and compassion.

We ask this through Christ Our Lord

Amen

Dear Whanau

Thank you so much for your support of Daffodil Day. It was lovely to see all the children arriving with their yellow accessories. Thank you for sending them along with a gold coin donation which we will be forwarding to the Cancer Society. They are an amazing organisation with such a high level of care for all those that call upon their help. Please keep the organisation and all those who seek their support in your prayers.

Today we had a Structure Literacy course being held at our school. The Kiwi and Kakapo teachers attended the course along with a number of teachers from North Shore schools. We are continuing the journey to develop our knowledge and understanding of the Government’s new English and Mathematics curriculum. Kakariki teachers have been doing professional development on Structured Literacy over the last two terms.

The Minister shared at a conference in April that this is going to be a five year journey. We are a blessed school as we have teachers who are keen to develop their knowledge and understanding of the new curriculum, in order to implement them effectively.

The next phase of the introduction of these two curriculums will see the Government providing assessment and reporting tools. These are intended to come out at the end of Term 4, 2025. Teachers will receive professional development on the new assessment and reporting in early 2026.

The next phase of our annual reporting programme is ‘Sharing the Learning’. This is the morning of Tuesday 16th, Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th of September, between 8:15 am and 8:45 am. If at any stage you wish to discuss your child’s learning, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher and they will arrange a time to meet with you.

Take care

DAFFODIL DAY COLLECTION

A huge “THANK YOU!” to the school community for their generous gold coin contributions to our Daffodil Day drive today. We are pleased to advise we’ve raised $507.50 to send to the Cancer Society. We really appreciate you supporting this all-important cause  🙂

CANS FOR CHRISTMAS

We have two weeks to go in our Cans for Christmas appeal.

Thank you to the students and families who have so generously donated a can or two to the drive already. These food items will be going to support the St Vincent De Paul Society.

If you are able to get behind this cause, we would appreciate your support – we actively encourage our students to do a little extra at home to ‘earn’ their can.
