Attendance Dues
Attendance Dues are a compulsory payment under the terms of the The Education and Training Act 2020 and a condition of enrolment at St Joseph’s School. Attendance Dues are charged for all students who attend Catholic Schools in New Zealand.
Attendance Dues are used to repay loans for building works done at schools in the Auckland Diocese, property related costs including school building works, buildings insurance and costs directly associated with the administration of attendance dues.
Attendance Dues are collected by all Auckland Catholic Schools on behalf of their Proprietor, the Roman Catholic Bishop of Auckland. The dues are forwarded to Auckland Common Fund Limited, a company established by the Proprietors of Catholic integrated schools in the Diocese of Auckland responsible for the collection of attendance dues.
Attendance Dues can be paid in full at the beginning of the school year, per term or by regular instalments during the academic year. They are not able to be paid in full at the end of the academic year.
Contributions
Eligible for a Tax Credit
Contributions are voluntary. They are vital for the school to ensure we continue to provide high quality programmes and motivating learning experiences for our children.
Special Character Contributions provides the main source of funding for all services provided to St Joseph’s School by the Catholic Education Services Board. No contributions are made by the Government for these services. The Catholic Education Services Board assists schools to provide a Catholic education for your child through the preservation and enhancement of the Catholic Special Character in our schools.
Teaching and Learning Contributions is required by the Board to help pay for the additional resources and activities to enhance your child’s learning. These resources and activities include Digital Resources, Learning Resources, Life Education, Swimming, Education outside the Classroom (visits to the Museum, MOTAT, Zoo, Kelly Tarlton’s etc.), team trips that support Inquiry Learning, music and theatrical performances at school or outside the school. This is essential to help the school maintain a high standard of programmes and educational opportunities, helping make up for the shortfall in the operating grant received from the Ministry of Education.
Capital Works Contributions is collected in order to fund capital works at St Joseph’s School (e.g. new classrooms or upgrading of existing facilities).
