PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Kia ora parents,

This afternoon the Kiwi team children put on a beautiful performance of ‘Born In the Barn Nativity Show’ for their whanau. Their singing, speaking, and acting were outstanding. It was a wonderful way to be reminded of the real story of Christmas, the birth of Our Lord Jesus. Our thanks to everyone involved in putting on this performance and particularly to the children for their enthusiastic performance.

This week, you were emailed a link to the recording of our Disney Moana Jr performance that the school did earlier in the year. Please be aware that these recordings are for personal use only and cannot be shared via social media platforms due to copyright and out of respect for our performers privacy.

Tuesday evening next week, beginning 6:30pm, we will be celebrating the Year 6 students’ time at our school. They will be heading off to college next year. Everyone is welcome to join our Year 6 Graduation Mass – a wonderful celebration which will be followed by ‘tea and cake’ in the quad.

Friday sees our school end of year liturgy, beginning at 11am, in the Rosmini College auditorium. We would love all families to join us for this school liturgy and celebration. As the college will be closed, you are welcome to park there. The Parish carpark and the top field will also be open.

Following the liturgy, we will be having our whanau picnic. There will be food trucks in the quad. Alternatively families can bring a picnic and their picnic rug and enjoy family time on the bottom field.

While Friday is a celebration of our year it hasn’t ended. The final day is …

Tuesday, 16th December at 1pm

Please ensure you have made arrangements for your child to be collected at 1pm.

WET DAY PICK-UP REMINDER

Hopefully we will not have too many more Wet Day Pickups before the end of the year. These pickups are in place in order to ensure that we don’t gridlock our neighbouring roads. Our aim is to keep the Wet Day Pick Ups to a minimum however they are effective for ensuring that children and cars exit safely in wet weather.

Our process is:

  • 2:20pm Email sent to parents informing them that it is a wet day pick-up
  • 2:30pm Wet Day Pick-Up bell rings
  • Teachers will be outside HG 10 / 11 to call children from Kakapo and Kakariki home groups
  • No parents are to go up the stairs to the Kakariki classes
  • Parents can begin collecting children (not before)
  • 2:50pm Gate open – Please don’t park in from of gate if it isn’t open
  • Parents display their child’s name and home group (HG) clearly in windscreen
  • Children called to office by gate duty teacher

Please note children will not be released until 2:30 and only if you have received an email saying it is a Wet Day Pick Up. If it is raining in your area it does not mean it is raining here in Takapuna.

Children do not have to be picked up before 2:50pm. It is an option. Children will continue their learning programme between 2:30pm – 2:50pm.

SCHOOL OUTREACH

A heartful thank you to all the families who have contributed to the various Mission appeals throughout the year. As a school community we have been able to reach a number of families and groups.

A huge thank you for getting behind the spirit of Christmas and supporting the Parish Angel Tree Drive.

If you are able, this last week we will be collecting Christmas treats for the parish foodbank – think chocolates, chippies, biscuits, toiletries etc.

Once again thank you so much for your support we truly do appreciate it.
