ST JOSEPH’S CATHOLIC
SCHOOL
TAKAPUNA
PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Kia ora Whānau
Today began with our school attending the Parish Mass for St Joseph the Worker feast day. Every Catholic school celebrates their namesakes feast day. St Joseph has two feast days. Our St Joseph parish celebrates St Joseph’s day on March 11th each year. We, as a school, celebrate St Joseph the Worker feast day on the 1st of May.
The Mass was celebrated by Monsignor Dave and co-celebrate by Fr Glenn. The children sang beautifully and those children with various roles in the Mass did themselves proud. The Mass was followed by long morning tea, as part of the celebration, which saw the children enjoying the current good spell of weather.
Fortunately this good spell is continuing into next week which sees our Year 6 children going to camp. This afternoon they performed team chants for the Year 5 students. We wish them well for their camp and look forward to hearing all about their adventures when they get home.
Thank you for your support of the Colour Run which is scheduled to happen next Friday. The adults and children enjoyed promoting it yesterday at drop off. If you have yet to set up a profile for your child, it is not too late. Please head to myprofilepage.co.nz. Further details are in this Principal Message.
Next week we will be sending out the monthly invoices/statements for the school fees. The Catholic Office is now requiring us to be more direct in collecting the fees, hence the monthly invoices/statements. They do expect parents to be making regular payments through the year, rather than paying it all at the end of the year. They encourage parents to be paying each term. Alternatively you can set up a fortnightly or monthly automatic payment through your bank.
Catholic Diocese of Auckland
- Payments can be made, in full at the beginning of the year or by instalment (weekly, fortnightly, monthly or per term)
- They cannot be paid in full at the end of each year.
We do have a new eftpos facility at the office for parents to use when paying school fees. Alternatively you can pay them directly into the bank. The school account name and number is at the bottom of the invoice/statement along with the instructions for making the online payment.
Thank you to the children who represented our school in the Takapuna Anzac parade last Saturday. Thank you to their whanau for ensuring they were able to participate. It was wonderful to be able to walk with the Carmel and Rosmini students, along with other local colleges and primary schools in the parade. The service is always special and it is a privilege to be able to lay a wreath on behalf of our school community. Lest We Forget

CURRICULUM DAY – FRIDAY, MAY 29TH

WANTED: PERFORMERS FOR FILO NIGHT AT ROSMINI COLLEGE

Welcome to the St Joseph’s Primary Filo Night Performance Group!
Hi, my name is Eliza Arsena, and I am a Year 13 student at Carmel College. This year, I have started a new initiative to invite St Joseph’s Primary students to perform in our Filo Night concert, held at Rosmini College on September 18th 2026 , and I have the great privilege of leading this group. These will start Term 2, Week 4! I am aiming to have at least 2- practices every week and have an even number from the year levels.
Filo Night is an annual cultural showcase that brings together students from schools all across the North Shore to celebrate Filipino culture through dance, music, and performance. It is a special night that highlights community, culture, and talent, and I’m so excited for St Joseph’s students to be part of it this year.
This is a wonderful opportunity for your child to celebrate Filipino culture through performance, friendship, and fun. Your child does not have to be Filipino to join! Everyone is welcome as long as they are willing to learn, participate, and have fun!
Practices will be held after school at St Joseph’s, and this form will help me work out the best days and times for rehearsals.
Please note there will be a mandatory rehearsal on June 27th and on August 15th that all students in the group must attend, as this will be an important full rehearsal before the event. Parents are also welcome to watch the June 27th rehearsal.
There are limited spaces available (20–30 students) in this group, so please fill out the form if your child is interested. This form will close next Sunday.
Thank you so much — I’m so excited to bring this opportunity to St Joseph’s and work with your amazing kids! 💛
