Kia ora whanau,

This morning at school prayers we welcomed the new students who arrived last week, and their families to our school. It is always a special occasion for our school and a wonderful opportunity for our students to show manaakitanga.

Thursday next week, 60 of our children will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation. As with all our church Sacraments, it is a gift from God. It is one of three that are considered a Sacrament of Initiation into the Catholic church, with the other two being Baptism and First Holy Eucharist. Please keep the children in your prayers as they receive the gift of the Holy Spirit and complete the grace of baptism.

It was great to see all the children arriving dressed in their FIFA Women’s World Cup team colours. Tuesday evening’s game was intense. Congratulations to the Philippine community on their win. It is great to have a women’s sporting event of this calibre in our country and hopefully the children will continue to follow the tournament with interest.

The PTFA met this week to review and plan school social and fundraising events. We are very grateful to the PTFA for all that they do for our school community. Check out the information below regarding their upcoming Quiz Night. It will be a great evening so please mark the date on your calendar and organise your teams.

We are pleased to be having Book Week this term. It is a highlight of our school event calendar. Please check out below what will be happening in this special week and on what dates. Again, please mark them on your calendar.

Here are some reminders about Sacramental programme dates and events:

2nd August 2023 – Rehearsal

Inside Saint Joseph’s Church Takapuna starting at 6:30pm. Sponsors are highly encouraged to join the rehearsal.

3rd August 2023 – Rite of Confirmation

• 5:15pm – Assembly time in the parish hall (Please only Children and Sponsors to be in the hall at this time) Everyone else are invited to take a seat in the Church.
• 5:30 – 5:40pm – Photos will be taken with the priests and seminarian Mark and our catechists
• 5:45pm – Children and Sponsors to process up to the church.
• 6:00pm – Rite of Confirmation

5th & 6th August – First Communion in all Sunday Masses including the 5pm Vigil Mass, Saturday

What to wear:

• Girls – WHITE DRESS 
• Boys – WHITE TOP

(We have 7 white dresses of different sizes. For those who would like to borrow please come to the parish office with your child so she can try them on.)
