Principal’s Letter – March 25

Dear Parents and Whanau

Well there are not many more hours until we are in full lockdown as a country. It is certainly an event for the history books.

I trust all is going well with the Online Programme of Learning and the children are having fun with it. Teachers are monitoring their Home Group’s activities this week. Students are welcome to email them between 9 am and 3 pm if they have any questions or concerns. Please remind them that they may not always get an immediate response, so they could go onto another activity or go outside for a game while they are waiting.

Today all schools in New Zealand close. This means no one is allowed in the schools until the Prime Minister announces they are reopened.  If your child realises tomorrow that they have left something at school, that is where it is staying. Similarly for staff.

As you are aware this Friday 27 March will be the last day of Term 1 2020. Schools will reopen for online learning only on Wednesday 15 April. We are leaving our Team Google Sites up for your children to access. The teachers will not be available to respond to any queries or concerns about the activities over this break. They themselves will be having a break and preparing for what at this stage is going to be a twelve week term.

Thank you to all our staff for all they have done this term supporting the students with their programme of learning. We have a top quality staff who always put the children and their learning first.

I will continue sending out communications through the break as and when needed. If you as parents have any concerns or questions please don’t hesitate to contact me at principal@sj.school.nz.

The staff and I wish you all a safe, healthy and fun family lockdown.
