Principal’s Message

Dear Parents

As we draw near the end of our first half of the school year, we can reflect on the life long memories we have gathered over this time. On January 28 you recieved the first communication from the Ministry of Education about Covid-19, and as they say, the rest is history.

The up coming school break will be an opportunity for the children to continue experiencing life as normal. It has been wonderful to have them all back for the second half of this term. They are an amazing group of students who have very successfully settled back into school life.

Thank you to the many parents who have taken care to keep their children home when they have been unwell. We appreciate parents being proactive and ensuring their child is not coming to school with runny noses, coughs, colds and other respiratory conditions. This ensures that we are not passing on the winter illnesses.

We continue to ensure that the students and staff are continuing safe hygiene practices with regular hand washing, use of sanitiser where soap and water isn’t available and the cleaning and disinfecting of hard surfaces that are used regularly by the students.

Term 3 will see you and your child participating in a Student Led Conference. Please click on this link to read more about the 2020 Reporting process.

The last day of Term 2 is Friday 3 July. Term 3 begins Monday 20 July. It is a ten week term. The planned teacher only day (6 August) that we were having in conjunction with Carmel and Rosmini Colleges is not happening. The colleges and our school will be open that day for students.

Planning for Term 3 is underway. Information as to what is planned for Term 3 will be published in the first week back.

I wish you all a wonderful ‘normal’ break with your children.

Drop Off – Pick Up

Drop Off

Our morning drop off procedures are working well. Students who are dropped off before 8.15 am are great at waiting in the sheltered area by the office. Please drive slowly when entering the drop off/pick up zone as there are children who walk between the parked cars. It is helpful if your child gets out as soon as you are parked by the bollards. Your child does not need to wait until you are parked outside the office before they get out.

Pick Up

Post lockdown we appear to have a lot more parents arriving between 2.45 pm and 2.55 pm to collect their children. We do not have enough car parks for all parents to park and collect their children. Please could you consider collecting your child through the drive by pick up.

All parents who are doing the ‘drive by pick up’ are asked to plan their arrival for after 3.05 pm. The gate is open after 3.00 pm, after children who are walking to cars have exited the drop off / pick up zone.

If you are doing the ‘drive by pick up’ please could you have your child’s name and home group number on a white A4 piece of paper, placed on the drives side of the dashboard. This assists teachers when they are calling for your children. The children are directed to the front of the office and from there are assisted to cars. This allows us to get cars through quicker.

Parents who are collecting both Rosmini and St Joseph’s students are asked to plan their arrival for after 3.10 pm. This will free up car parks for parents who are only collecting St Joseph’s children.
