PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Talofa Parents / Caregivers,

It is wonderful to be able to celebrate the Samoan Language this week. 2022 is a significant year for our Samoan community as it is also the 60th anniversary of Samoa independence.

The Vaiaso of Gagana Samoa is “Fa áau’au le folauga i le vaá o tautai” – Continue the Voyage with Competent Wayfinders of the Ocean. The theme is around sustainability… the journey of the Samoan language.

Throughout the week, students will be participating in a variety of activities to celebrate this special week. Check out this link for Samoan Language Cards. Have the family use these phrases throughout the week.

The Catholic Character Reviewers who visited last week, Christine Smith and Philip Mahoney, gave the staff some wonderful feedback on what they had observed and from the conversations they had had with students and parents. We look forward to receiving their formal written review later this term.

The Government has determined that the country will be staying in the Orange setting of the COVID-19 Protection Framework until June 30.  At that time, the Government will review the setting. For us this means that the procedures that we currently have in place will continue through for the rest of the term. Should there be a change in the COVID-19 Protection Framework, we will implement the change at the beginning of Term 3.

The following topics will be covered in this weeks Principal Message:

  • Queens Birthday
  • Cereal Dominoes – Friday June 3rd
  • Jellybeans Music Programme

QUEEN’S BIRTHDAY

This coming weekend is Queen’s Birthday Weekend. On Monday June 5th, the school will be CLOSED for students and staff as it is a public holiday.

CEREAL DOMINOES – FRIDAY, JUNE 3RD

As part of our community outreach, we are taking part in St Joseph’s School Cereal Box Domino Run.

We encourage each family/student/staff member to bring along a full box of cereal on Friday. These will then be set up by some keen problem solving students as a dominoes run.

How long can we make our run go?

The boxes of cereal will be donated to our local St Vincent De Paul.  Please think about giving to this worthy cause on Friday.

Thank you!
