PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Kia ora whanau,

Today, at school prayers, we welcomed the new students who joined our school community in Week 6. Our thanks to our cultural group, for their AWESOME performance welcoming all, at the beginning of prayers. It was wonderful to be able to welcome all our new families and new students with their welcome certificates and the school singing our welcome song. We are sure you will all have a great time here at St Joseph’s.

Next week you will have an opportunity to come and see the learning your child has achieved this term. Each team has timetabled a ‘Sharing the Learning’ slot for the parents of their students. Please come along and talk to your children about their learning and celebrate with them all they have achieved.

  • Tuesday, 13th June: Team Kea 8 am – 9 am
  • Wednesday, 14th June: Team Kakariki 7.45 am – 8.45 am
  • Thursday, 15th June: Team Kakapo 8 am – 9 am

KAKAPO TEAM – LEARNING ABOUT THE PRINTING PRESS

This week the Kakapo team got to meet Graham who brought in an amazing invention invented by Gutenberg called The Printing Press. We got to learn about how books were made in the olden days and how it would take up to 7 years to print one Bible! We then got to see the almost 200 year old printing press in action by each Home Group getting to make a special poster to take back to their learning space. Thank you, Graham, for the wonderful learning experience!

COLOUR FUN RUN 2023

Our first school Colour Fun Run is coming up soon on Friday, 16th June. Thank you to all the children that have signed up so far. We have over 270 children with a profile – which is so great to see! We will kick off on the day, at 1:40pm and all parents are welcome to join in the fun. We recommend that the children wear a white t-shirt and any colourful shorts or trousers that you are happy for them to get colour on. More information below, including how you can volunteer to help next Friday.

A COUPLE REMINDERS

Just a couple of gentle reminders for parents.

School Fee Deposits

When making a deposit for your child, can you please ensure you include the following details on the deposit slip:

  • Child’s name
  • Home Group
  • What the deposit is for (eg “fees”, “uniform”, “field trip”, etc)

Often the parent’s surname on the bank statement isn’t the same as the child’s surname, and it’s difficult to ascertain which student the payment should go towards without their name and home group.

Arriving Late To School

We appreciate parents doing their utmost to get their children to school on time. In the odd instance your child is late, please ensure the adult dropping them off comes into the office to sign them in. Often the students will come into the office on their own, to advise Mrs Kelly they’ve arrived. However they must be signed in by the parent/caregiver.

Many thanks!
