Principal’s Message – 14 December, 2023

ST JOSEPH’S CATHOLIC
SCHOOL
TAKAPUNA

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Morena te kura o hato hohepa, Ka manaakitia ko tou e te Atua

We have come to the end of our 130th year of Catholic Education here St Joseph’s Catholic School Takapuna. I am sure that Patuone, Bishop Pompelier, Catherine MaCauley and Sister Alphonsus would be very proud of the achievements of our students over this year. They would love seeing how our students have celebrated the involvement of these four significant pou in our school’s whakapapa. They would also be proud of the academic achievements of our tamariki and particularly of the way they reflect tika, pono, aroha, manaakitanga, and tapu… our Mercy values and the School motto: Courtesy, Care, Cooperation and Courage, through their daily actions.

Children, you have yet again demonstrated in front of your parents what amazing children you are and what amazing talents you have. Mum and Dad are very proud of you, and so are your teachers. We wish you all an AWESOME Christmas break. Christmas is a time where we remember Mary and Joseph and their son Jesus. A family just like yours. Full of love. May you all have a fun holiday full of laughter and adventures.

Parents, thank you so much for the many ways you have supported our tamariki and kura over 2023. You have all been involved in so many different ways. We really appreciate all your support.

To our families who are leaving us. Thank you for sharing the gift of your children with our school community. It has been a privilege for us to be able to teach and nurture your children alongside you. They are amazing children, so talented, so full of fun and so entertaining. We wish you and them all the best for the years ahead.

May you all have a happy and holy Christmas.

Ka manaakitia koutou e te Atua

2024 HOME GROUPS

This week your child met their 2024 Home Group teacher.

In 2024, we will be moving to three teams; Kakariki, Kakapo and Kiwi. The teams are designed to support teachers in their planning and the sharing of responsibilities for running the school. We have made the decision to combine the Kea and Kiwi team teachers for 2024. There will still be Year 0/1 Home Groups and straight Year 2 Home Groups, as has always been the case.

We are beginning the 2024 school year with a similar number of students to 2023. We have however decided to begin with three Year 0/1 Home Groups with between fourteen and fifteen students in each. We will start new Year 0/1 Home Groups as the new children arrive throughout the year.
