Principal’s Message – 02 May, 2025

ST JOSEPH’S CATHOLIC

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Kia ora whanau

We had a very special school Mass for our school’s Feast Day yesterday. We celebrated St Joseph the Worker and Miss Sophie Fleming, teacher of Home Group 10, who received the Sacraments of Confirmation and First Holy Communion. It is not often that children see a staff member of the school receiving these Sacraments. We congratulate Sophie receiving these Sacraments and our prayers are with her as she continues her faith journey.

Each week a Principal Message is published on the school website. This is the main form of communication to our parent community. It contains information on what has been happening at school over the last week and information on what events are coming up in the next couple of weeks. All parents receive an email each Friday at 6 pm informing them that the Principal Message has been posted on the website, along with the actual Principal Message for that week.

The second form of communication are eTap emails. These are sent out to specific parent groups from the child’s home group teacher, team or from the school for individual events.

The school website contains the school calendar. This has all the school events and is updated at the beginning of each term.

We take great care not to overload parents with emails from our school. It is generally one email a week, on a Friday.

Please could parents take the time to open their emails from the school and read them. This will support your children and keep yourself informed as to what is happening for your child at school. Please can you also check the school calendar on the school website on a regular basis.

Our Year 6 children are heading off to camp next week. They will be heading to Carey Park Camp on Monday and are returning on Wednesday. It is a great opportunity for the children and teachers to participate in an amazing range of activities and to experience a few days of ‘camp life’ with their classmates. We look forward to their return and hearing all their stories.

The weather forecast is looking great for the weekend and for camp. Enjoy!

Take care
