PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Dear Parents

Today our prayers have been with the Ponsonby Intermediate community as they celebrated the life of their Principal, Nick Wilson. The community was informed last weekend of his death due to a medical event. Nick was held in high esteem by his students, staff and whanau. Please keep his family and school community in your prayers.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.

Next week will see the teachers meeting for our Ministry of Education (MOE) Curriculum Day. On Friday 29 May, the school will be closed for the children. Skids are not open.

The Ministry has allocated NZ schools two curriculum days this year. These days are for teachers to receive professional development around the changes the government has made across NZ curriculum. Our second MOE Curriculum Day for 2026 is Friday, 21 August. It is on the school calendar.

On Monday, 1st of June, the school is closed for the King’s Birthday public holiday. Skids will not be open that day.

START COLLECTING YOUR YUMMY APPLE STICKERS

Do you want to help St Joseph’s get a share of $200,000 worth of Sports equipment?

We are running a competition involving all Home Groups – each HG will have from now until 20 October 2026 to collect as many Yummy stickers as they can.  The winning HG will win extra playtime for their class (and an extra break time for their teacher!)

You can help your Home Group by purchasing YUMMY apples (they can be purchased from one of the supermarkets below), either bags with cut-out labels or individual apples with YUMMY stickers, then sticking these onto the Yummy Sticker sheet.

The more we can collect the bigger the share of the $200,000 we will get.

Sticker sheets will be available in the classrooms and extra sheets are available in the office by the sports box.We have until 20th October so get collecting & drop off to the box in the school office when they are ready.
