PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Dear Parents

Over the last eighteen months, the Board has been in discussions with the Bishop, Parish and Rosmini College on the St Joseph’s Takapuna Campus Development plan. Each of the stakeholders have a vested interest in the land we share that was purchased by Bishop Pompallier for the Parish and the education of our St Joseph Parish Community.

The Bishop is looking at what to do with the St Joseph Center (Orphanage); while the Parish is planning to refurbish/extend both the church and the presbytery.

We are looking forward to a new learning block being built to replace the prefabs on the fields and the ones used by the Kiwi team.

Rosmini is first off the rank, with its new administration block and classroom block. This is due to the fact it needs to replace the current administration and classroom block as soon as practical. The new blocks will be built on what we know as our ‘bottom field’.

When this project is completed, we look forward to our new learning center being built which will provide eight learning spaces. These spaces are in addition to the fourteen learning spaces in our Pompallier Learning Center and that will cater for our maximum roll of 585.

The Board and Bishop have developed a plan for our school to grow our ‘top field’ and incorporate a new senior playground within it, which will include the sandpit that we have fundraised for. We will continue to have our courts next to the presbytery and we will be able to extend the junior playground, once the prefabs (HGs 15 – 18) have been moved.

We understand from the Bishop, that the Rosmini project is anticipated to begin in 2027. However, as with many building projects such as this one, there are a number of hoops to go through before the start date is finalised.

I will provide updates on the St Joseph’s Takapuna Campus Development plan as they arise.
