ST JOSEPH’S CATHOLIC
SCHOOL
TAKAPUNA

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Kia ora Whānau,

We have one more week to go for Term 1. A short term that has flown by.

Our final week for the term is Holy Week. Children will be learning about and preparing for the Easter celebrations.

Students from our school have been preparing for our biannual Stations of the Cross liturgy which is held in our church at 10am Friday, 3 April. All whānau are welcome to join us for this liturgy. It is always a very moving occasion and a lovely way for the children to celebrate Good Friday.

The final day of our Term is Thursday, 2 April. This will see all our children participating in the annual Holy Week Liturgy in the school hall. This celebration begins at 1:30pm. Again all whanau are welcome to join us for this liturgy.

Keeping in with the theme for the week, the PTFA are selling Hot Cross Buns as a fundraiser. Please read the information below to learn how you can place and order. Orders can be placed through to Sunday, 29 March. You will receive your hot cross buns next Wednesday, ready for the family dinner table on Good Friday, after the celebration of the Lord’s Passion.

We appreciate the children bringing in grocery items for our St Vincent de Paul pantry. They have a significant number of families that they support. We sent out a message via email yesterday, asking that families consider bringing in Easter goodies over the next week. If you are doing a grocery shop over the weekend, it would be appreciated if you could buy a couple of Easter treats for families in need. Thank you.

We wish all the children and their whānau participating in the Shore-to-Shore fun run/walk on Sunday, all the best. We look forward to seeing you at the finish line. Look for the red St Joseph’s marquee where you will find a sausage and a drink. Thank you for supporting this event which in turn provides our school with sports equipment.
