PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Dear Parents,

It was great to be able to welcome the children back on Monday. They all seemed to have a wonderful break and we enjoyed a good first week.

Monday saw the FIFA World Cup final and today, Friday, saw the opening of the Commonwealth Games, which are being held in Glasgow. It was brilliant to finally see a video of Lochness!

For our school, we have a sporting focus on Cross Country and Swimming this term. It is a full term and the team overviews are as follows:

Kiwi / Kakapo / Kakariki

The Kakariki team have their Market Day this term as well, so look out for it on the school calendar. There is a lot of learning and preparation involved in this biannual event.

The overarching themes for the term are:

Kaitiaki

To care and nurture

Māhaki

The pathway to raised prestige is also the pathway to a humble heart.

Throughout the day this term, and at morning prayers, the children will discuss and focus on these two themes.

Enjoy the Commonwealth Games and hopefully we will win plenty of gold, silver and bronze medals in the days ahead.

Little Red Riding Hood

A Twisted Tale By: Isla

Once upon a time, there was a little chicken wearing a red cloak. She was walking to her grandma’s fridge to drop off some eggs. Then she bumped into a giraffe.”Where are you going?” asked the giraffe “To my grandmother’s house down the street” replied the chicken. Then suddenly and almost instantly the giraffe ate the chicken.

The giraffe walked to Grandma’s house and opened the door. There was Grandma eating a pizza. The giraffe ate the Grandma and walked outside looking for a drink. Then there was Mr. Grimmose Shake, the wood cutter. Mr. Grimmose Shake did all he could do to survive but it was too late. The giraffe already sucked him whole! The End… UNTIL the giraffe vomited all he ate: Grandma, old chicken and when he vomited out Mr. Grimmose it tasted like a Grimmose Shake. All in one, Mr. Giraffe did NOT feel good. He turned into a wolf. Then he was hungry for a pig. Maybe even hungry for three little pigs.
