Week Seven Term One

Thank you to all the parents and children who supported The Patuone Family Mass on Sunday 16 March and a special thank you to the choir and to the children who read and took part in other ministries.Thank you to the teachers who prepared the children and supported them on the day.

“Go Green for Caritas” on St Patrick’s Day had a great response thank you, even though it was short notice. I will advise you how much money was raised for Caritas’ Lenten Appeal.

The main St Joseph’s Day is rather low key for us here at school because we celebrate our patron’s day in May on the feast of St Joseph the Worker (or on a date close by). It is not that we are ignoring him!

Our second BOT meeting for the year was held on Thursday night. We welcomed Father Elric who represented Father Phil. A chunk of the meeting involved preparation for the forthcoming ERO visit to the school starting this Monday.

The ERO team coming in to the school Are Deena Mayor (Lead Reviewer), Beth Prime and Helen Cresswell. The major evaluation question for the review is: “How effectively is your school’s curriculum promoting student learning-engagement,progress and achievement?” The team also focuses on how effective is the governance and management of the school, what strategies we have in place to ensure that all learners get a fair deal; effective teaching, safety, inclusiveness, involvement and engagement of parents and a particular current focus  is Wellbeing for Success.

The parish, including some of our families, celebrated St Joseph’s Day in the School  Hall on Friday evening with a meal and plenty of singing. A good night was had by all. There may even be a few contestants for New Zealand’s Got Talent!

Teaching and Learning Teams will be “Sharing the Learning” with you in the week beginning 6 April. Each team will notify you. There will be a variety of times and formats.

I hope your weekend is going well.

Ka kite ano

Phil
