Principal’s Message – 03 May, 2024

ST JOSEPH’S CATHOLIC
SCHOOL
TAKAPUNA

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Kia Ora Whanau

It was wonderful to be able to welcome back the children on Monday this week, along with welcoming our new children.

Wednesday 1st of May was the feast day for St Joseph the Worker. This is our school’s feast day. This year we will be celebrating it with a school Mass on Friday 10th May at 9.15 am, in our Parish church. All whanau are welcome to join us for this Mass. At this Mass we will also be welcoming the new students who began school on Monday this week.

Also on the 10th of May, we’ll also be doing the Cereal Box Dominos. This is one of our community outreach programmes. We encourage all families to send along at least one cereal box for this fun event. The senior students set up cereal boxes in the hall for a dominoes run, which is watched by the entire school. Thank you for your support of this event.

This term will see School Waiata and School Prayers moving from Mondays to Fridays, at the usual time of 8.50 am. School Prayers will be held on the Fridays of the even weeks.

Over the break a number of our children represented our school community at the Takapuna ANZAC parade on Thursday, 25th April. Thank you to their families for allowing them to participate in this parade.

Please note in your diaries the three days the school will be CLOSED this term:

  • Friday 31st May – Ministry of Education Curriculum Day
  • Monday 3rd June – King’s Birthday Public Holiday
  • Friday 28th June – Matariki Public Holiday

Our sKids programme will be looking to offer their programme for the day on Friday the 31st of May if they have enough children registering. If you are interested in registering your child, please contact Jeff & Tess – 0220674840 / stjosephstakapuna@skids.co.nz

They will not be offering their programme on Monday 3rd June or Friday 28th June, as they are public holidays.

KAKAPO TEAM’S TRIP TO THE ART MUSEUM

The Kakapo Team visited the Auckland Art Gallery this week. The tamariki got to look at different pieces of art and they got to explore how stories can be told through artwork. The tamariki also had time in the art studio where they got busy making and constructing their own artwork based on making marks and listening to music. Thank you to all the parent helpers who came along to help out on our trip!
