PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Dear Parents and Whanau

Welcome to Week 4 of Term 3. The 2020 school year is flying by.

Teachers have started inviting parents in for the student led conferences that are being held over the next month. The 2020 reporting process was posted on the school website at the end of June. You can review it through this link. The reporting process includes a new style of report for Years 2 – 6. We will be seeking feedback on this after the student led conferences have been completed. All parents will be invited to meet with their child and their child’s teacher to hear from them about the learning and progress they have made for the first half of this year. It is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate your child’s learning.

This week we have our School Mass. This is being held within the Parish Mass on Friday 14 August in our St Joseph’s Church, beginning at 9.15 am. All parents and whanau are welcome to join us for this special Mass. We have chosen this date as it is the closest day to the ‘Feast of the Assumption’ which is on Saturday August 15. This feast day is a Holy Day of Obligation for the Catholic Church. The belief of the Catholic Church is that Mary, Mother of Jesus, was assumed body and soul into heaven at the end of her earthly life. This belief reflects the importance Mary has within our faith.

Tomorrow evening, Tuesday 11 August, we will be having a PTFA meeting in the staffroom. This will begin 7.15 pm. All parents are welcome to come along to this meeting to plan and support a possible sausage sizzle and school disco. The focus is around pastoral care of our school community in what has been a unique year. See you there.
