ST JOSEPH’S CATHOLIC
Alert Level 3 Continues – August 14
Dear Parents and Whanau
This evening the Prime Minister announced that Alert Level 3 will currently continue through until 11.59pm Wednesday 26 August. Schools remain closed except for the children of essential workers. We are asked to remain in our bubbles, work from home, use the covid app and wear a face cover.
As you will be aware there are school communities impacted by the current cluster. Please keep them and all the people with the virus in your prayers.
Today’s post will cover the following topics:
- Online Programme of Learning
- School Prayers
- Essential Workers
- Student Led Conferences
- School Events
- Parish Masses
Online Programme of Learning
Teachers are preparing the activities for next week. They will be posted Sunday evening. The teachers are delighted with the uptake of the online activities. Please remember the Online Programme of Learning is not designed to replicate the school day that your child normally experiences. The programme provides a range of activities at a range of levels for the students to enjoy and engage with. Children select activities that provide enjoyment and challenge them. Teachers are enjoying communicating and supporting the children through emails and seesaw. If your child has any questions they can email their teacher.
Over the period we remain in lockdown I will be doing ‘School Prayers’ live each morning. Children are welcome to ‘tune in’ for ‘School Prayers’ at 9.30am Monday through to Friday. The link will be posted on the Team Online Programme of Learning Google Sites.
At Alert Level 3, while the school is closed, children of essential workers are able to come to school if their parents need to work through school hours. Please email me, email@example.com, if you wish your child to come to school next week. Please state your child’s name, home group number and teacher, along with the days they will be at school.
Student Led Conferences
All student led conferences have been postponed. When we are able to return to school we will review these.
All school events, including Cross Country and ICAS, have been cancelled. When we return to school, we will look at each event and determine what will happen, based on the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health guidelines.
Under Alert Level 3 there are no Parish Masses. Please check your Parish website for details as to what they are doing for Mass.
