Principal’s Message – 23 February, 2024

ST JOSEPH’S CATHOLIC
SCHOOL

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Dear Parents

We had lovely school prayers this morning, which saw us welcome our new students and families. Each of the new children received their welcome certificate, with the support of their family. The school then blessed them and sang our welcome song.

Thank you to the many families who were able to come along to the whanau (family) picnic on Friday evening. It was an awesome evening that saw families catching up with each and meeting new families. The water slide was highly successful, along with the food trucks. Thank you for supporting this special school event.

Over the break, the new basketball hoops were installed. Today the replacement sails over the junior playground were erected. These two projects were made possible thanks to the fundraising efforts of the PTFA. The PTFA are a parent group who support the school by fundraising for school projects, and they also lead social events for parents and students. If you are interested in joining the PTFA, you are welcome to come along to the first meeting for the new year: Monday, 26th March at 7.15 pm. The meeting will take place in the staffroom. Come along for a glass of wine, and join our chat about the events which are happening this year.

Have a lovely weekend!

Take care

Ka manaakitia e te Atua

NEW BASKETBALL HOOPS/REPLACEMENT PLAYGROUND SAILS

SYNOD ON SYNODALITY 2021-2024

“Synodality starts with hearing from the whole People of God. A Church that teaches must be firstly a Church that listens. Consulting all members of the Church is vital because, as the Second Vatican Council reminded us, the faithful as a whole are anointed by the Holy Spirit…”
– Pope Francis

Archbishop of Wellington Paul Martin, SM, Wairarapa Parish Priest Fr Dennis Nacorda, and Auckland Vicar for Māori Manuel Beazley have shared their experiences of the Holy Father’s Synod on Synodality in Rome last October. This YouTube video is a recording of a Zoom session they held with a live audience on Thursday, 15th February, 2024.
