PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

We have had a wonderful week celebrating Te Wiki o te Reo Māori. A highlight was our Kapa Haka group performing for the school on Wednesday. They were led by Whaea Te Awhina. Their performance was stunning. Whaea Te Awhina followed this with two waiata which the whole school sang. The children sang beautifully.

Market Day was AWESOME. Thank you to the Year 5/6 children, their whanau and the Kakariki teachers for the amazing day of buying and selling. There were some great stalls ranging from games through to candy floss and hair colouring. Congratulations to the children for the great work they put into planning, marketing and delivering their product. Thank you to the school community for supporting this event. The money raised will be evenly distributed between four Catholic organisations;

Next week we celebrate Mercy Week. The week will begin with our school Mercy Day Mass. Whanau are welcome to join us for this special school Mass. We understand five of the Sisters of Mercy will be joining us. The Sisters of Mercy founded our school in 1893. Catherine McCauley was the founder of the Sisters of Mercy Order. Next year will see the 200th anniversary of the opening of the first house of the Sisters of Mercy in Dublin, Ireland. We look forward to seeing you at the 9:15 am Parish Mass on Monday.

Thank you to the parents who have supported our children and teachers with the swimming programmes at both Hilton Brown and the Millenium Pools over the last few weeks.. It is wonderful to have your support.

Next week is also the final week for Term 3. The school closes at 2:50 pm on Friday, 25th of September. Children are to wear full school uniforms all week.
