PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Dear Parents
Next week we have national Maths Week. This is an opportunity for schools to put Maths in the spotlight. This is the link to the Maths Week / Wiki Pāngarau 2026 website, which you are welcome to check out.
Over the last two years the Government has introduced two new Math Curriculum along with two new English Curriculum and a new National Curriculum. Alongside that, they have provided two Curriculum days in each of 2026 and 2027. These are to provide teachers time to learn about the new curriculum.
On Friday 21 August our school will be closed for children as we will be having our second MOE Curriculum Day for 2026. Teachers will be receiving professional development from Dr Jo Knox on the Math Curriculum.
The school has been contacted by Netball North Harbour regarding an article in the NZ Herald where a man was arrested following photos being taken of a young person on Monday afternoon here at Netball North Harbour. They reassure families that they take the responsibility of ensuring they have a safe environment for everyone very seriously, and act accordingly. Netball North Harbour praise the actions of the young person and their parent in drawing this behaviour to their attention so quickly.
The school has been in contact with Netball North Harbour seeking further clarification as to what policy / procedure reviews have been carried out and what measures have been put in place, moving forward, to ensure our children’s safety at the courts and that such an incident won’t happen again. If you have any concerns please contact Netball North Harbour.
Children are currently preparing for the school Cross Country. This will be held at school on Tuesday, 18 August. The postponement date is Monday, 24 August. We look forward to whanau supporting the children at this annual event.
Thank you to the parents who are kindly sharing the time supporting children at our Monday afternoon cultural workshops. The children are really enjoying learning about new cultures. We very much appreciate your contributions.
Take care
