PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Dear Parents

This week is Support Staff Week. On Thursday the Board provided our support staff a morning tea to thank them for all they do, supporting the children and staff with the teaching and learning programmes. We are blessed to have an amazing team of Admin Staff and Learning Support Assistants who bring an amazing range of skills and knowledge into play in their respective roles. We thank them all for all the work they quietly do that helps the children through their day and allows teachers to be focused on their roles as teachers

Today was Mercy Weekend Wear Day. This is an annual event which sees the Home Groups focusing on the school’s Mercy Values and the School Motto. These are central to the school culture and the behaviour management programme. They are the foundation to all we do.

Our school was founded by the Sisters of Mercy who are now known as Sisters of Mercy New Zealand. Our values come from their values.

Mercy Values – who we are …

  • Aroha – Compassion – we look after each other
  • Tapu – Respect – we care for our environment
  • Pono – Truth – we tell the truth
  • Tika – Justice – we are fair
  • Manakitnaga – we look after each other

School Motto – how we act …

  • Care, Courtesy, Cooperation, Courage

Today we also had the school Colour Run. It was a great afternoon of colour. Thank you to all the family and friends of the children who sponsored them for this event. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

Ka manaakitia e te Atua
