PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Dear Parents

Next week we have our annual Cross Country on Tuesday, 18 August. At this stage the weather is fine, however as we know, Auckland’s weather is considered unpredictable, other than rain at 2:50 pm!. If we should need to postpone the event, the saver-date is Monday, 24 August. The start and finish line are at the bottom field. It runs from approximately 9am – 11am. It is run in order of Year Levels, beginning with Year 1. There is a boy’s run; and then a girl’s run at each Year Level. We do not know the start times for each run.

On Friday, 21 August the school is CLOSED for the children. Teachers will participate in a Ministry of Education Curriculum day receiving professional development on the new Mathematics and Statistics Curriculum. sKids is open for the day if you are interested in using their service for your child. This is the link for their contact details.

Below is a timely reminder for parents from the police. All children are escorted off the school site by a teacher or by their parent in order to ensure their safety in relation to cars, as well as the major intersection outside the school. We would ask all parents to talk to their children about safety when walking anywhere without an adult. If your child walks home or walks and waits at the Lake House Cafe, please have a chat with your child. You are welcome to have them stay at school for the parent drive-by pick up from 3:00pm – 3:15pm.

TIMELY REMINDER

Earlier this week, Police investigated an incident in the area that was reported by a young person. Following an investigation, Police are satisfied there was no malicious intent associated with the incident.

However, the matter provides a timely reminder for parents and caregivers to reinforce personal safety messages with their children. Young people should be encouraged not to engage with unfamiliar individuals or people they do not know, and to seek assistance from a trusted adult if they feel uncomfortable or concerned. Any suspicious behaviour should be reported promptly to a parent, caregiver, teacher or Police. Maintaining awareness and encouraging open communication are some of the most effective ways to help keep our young people safe.

BREAKFAST SEMINAR WITH THREEFOLD

Free breakfast, useful insights, and a boost for our fundraising, all before the school bell rings.

Join Threefold on Tuesday 25 August, from 8.00am to 8.45am in the school staff room, for a free session on what’s really happening with mortgage rates and KiwiSaver. No sales pitch, just practical insights over a yummy breakfast.

The school will open early from 8am, so you can drop the kids off and head straight in.

Here’s the best part for us: this is the start of an ongoing partnership between Threefold and our PTFA. You’ll get great financial advice with no pressure to sign-up.

However, if anyone does choose to become a Threefold client and nominates our school, Threefold will pay a referral fee directly to our PTFA to help our fundraising efforts, all at no cost to you.

Spaces are limited. Please RSVP by Thursday 20, August (so Threefold can work out catering numbers) by clicking here or by emailing bridget@threefold.co.nz
